When 1g of ice at 0°C melts to form 1g of water at 0°C then, is the latent heat absorbed by the ice or given out by the ice?

Water at 0°C has more heat than ice at 0°C. This is because each gram of ice absorbs nearly 336J of heat when it melts into water at 0°C.
