The sparrows and the grandmother had developed an intimate relationship so the sparrows also mourned her **. When the grandmother , thousands of sparrows expressed their sorrow by sitting scattered in the verandah in mourning while grandmother‟ *-body lay there. They did not chirrup. Author‟ mother threw some pieces of bread but they showed no interest in the bread crumbs. When they carried grandmother‟* corpse , they flew away quietly. Thus, the sparrows mourned her **** and paid their silent tribute to the grand old lady in a very unique manner.
