ISRO is the space agency maintained under the Government of India, responsible to harness space technology for national development while having space science research and planetary acknowledgement. The establishment of ISRO has a great impact on space programmes of India, as institutionalized space activities in India. The first satellite built by ISRO was Aryabhata, named after the Mathematician Aryabhata.
