Volcanic mountain — They are built when molten lava, ash, cinder and dust from deep inside the earth comes out on the surface through cracks in the earth’* crust and accumulate in the shape of high cones. The opening through which lava and other materials come to the surface is called a vent.
The funnel-shaped depression at the top of a vent is called a crater.
