A solid sphere of diameter 5 cm is dropped in a right circular cylindrical vessel partly filled with water. The diameter of the cylindrical vessel is 12 cm. If the sphere is completely submerged into water, hy how much will the level of water rise in the cylindrical vessel ?
Let the rise in level of water be h cm.
Radius of sphere = 3 cm. radius of cylinder
= 12/2 =6 cm
Volume of water displaced in cylinder = Volume of sphere.
Hence the water level rises = 1 cm.
