The rms and mean value of half-wave and full-wave rectifier outputs are as follows :
(i) Half wave rectifier :
(ii) Fun wave rectifier:
The part of the impedance in which the phase difference between the current and emf is π / 2 is called reactance.
If the current lags behind emf by π / 2, the reactance is called inductive.
If the emf lags behind the current by π / 2, the reactance is called capacitive.
If the emf is in phase with the current, the circuit is called resistive.
Hot wire ammeter and voltmeter can be used both in a.c. as well as d.c. circuits.
In an a.c. circuit, the electric energy is dissipated in the resistance alone.
Series resonant circuit is called accept or circuit as its impedance is minimum at resonance and current is very large. That is it readily accepts the current.
The non-sinusoidal complex waveform of a.c. is obtained when a number of harmonics superpose on each other.
