Explain with the help of a circuit diagram, the working of a p-n junction diode as a half-wave rectifier.

Working : During one half of the input a.c., the diode is forward biased and a current flows through RL .

During the other half of the input.a.c., the diode is reverse biased and no current flows through the load RL .

Hence, the given a.v. input is rectified.
