Momentum: The effect of motion of a body depend both on its mass and velocity. The product of mass and velocity of a body is called its momentum. It is the quantity of motion possessed by the body.
Momentum = Mass x Velocity, P = mv
Momentum is a vector quantity because the velocity V is a vector quantity and mass m is a scalar quantity. Its direction is same as the direction of the velocity of the body.
