Coniferous forests are made up mainly of cone-bearing or coniferous trees, such as spruces, hemlocks, pines and firs.
Coniferous:
They have needle – like leaves.
The trees do not shed their leaves in any particular season so the forests appear green at all times.
They yield softwood.
They have tall, slender trunks, wider at the base and tapering at the top.
