Mr. Dorling was an old acquaintance of the narrator’ mother whom she had not seen for years. She had recently renewed her contact with the narrator’ mother. The narrator’ mother told her daughter that Mrs. Darling had been visiting their house regularly and every time she left, she took same belongings with her. She suggested to the narrator’ mother that she was storing them at a safer place otherwise they would lose everything.
