Sky waves: A radio wave transmitted towards the sky and reected by the ionosphere towards the desired location of the earth is called a sky wave.

Sky wave propagation is achieved by ionospheric reflection of radiowaves, while space wave propagation is direct, line of sight propagation from the transmitted to the receiver.

Space waves: A radio wave that travels directly from a high transmitting antenna to the receiving station is called space wave.
