It is said that Ladakh desert **** in the rain shadow of the Himalayas because it fails to receive rainfall through monsoons due to its location.
Himalayan mountain range blocks the rain clouds from the north direction of Ladakh. Thus, clouds are not able to come to the other side of the mountain. Therefore Ladakh is known as the rain shadow region. These ranges obstruct the entry of moisture-laden winds into Ladakh.
