The reason for such a bleak scenario are the wrong strategies adopted by our Union Ministry of Tourism in the past. It is now being realised that Indian Tourism has been courting the wrong tourists. It was running after the brash, demanding foreigners trickling in from recession-hit countries. Now the shift has been to well-heeled tourists from the new markets of China, Russia and Brazil.
