A tank can be filled by one pipe in x minutes and emptied by another pipe in (x + 5) minutes. Both the pipes when open together can fill the empty tank in 16·8 minutes. Find the value of x.
Tank filled by one pipe in a minute
= 1/x
Tank emptied by another pipe in one minute
= 1/x + 5
∴ When both the pipes are working tank filled in 1 minute
