Loss of Membership : A member of the house ceases to be a member:

i. If he resigns his post and send his resignation letter to the Presiding Officer of the house.

ii. If the members acquires any of the disqualifiction’* stated above.

iii. If a member gets elected to both the Houses of the Legislature he has to resign his post from one house.

Privileges and immunities of the Members of the State Legislature : The Privileges and immunities of the Members of the State Legislature are as under:

i. The members of both the Houses have absolute freedom of speech in their respective Houses. No legal proceedings can be started against a member for any remark or speech made by him on the floor of the House.

ii. They are immune from arrest in connection with any civic proceedings against them. Nor can they be forced to give any evidence or produced as a witness in any case finding before a court of law during the currency of a session of 40 days before or after it.
