The most important mineral fuels are coal and petroleum. Characteristics :
(i) Mineral resources are more or less fixed in quantities and are, therefore, known as exhaustible resources.
(ii) Mineral ore have to be smelted to remove the impurities and isolate the mineral in a pure state.
