Find the length of the hypotenuse of a square whose side is 16 cm.

ABCD is a square.

In right angled triangle ∆ ABC,

AC2 = AB2 + BC2 ....(by Pythagoras theorem)

∴ AC2 = 162 + 162

∴ AC2 = 256 + 256

∴ AC2 = 512

∴ AC = 16 √2
