The economy of Bihar is principally service leaning. It also has a noteworthy agricultural base. Bihar has a tiny manufacturing segment. As of 2008, cultivation accounts for 35% in Bihar, the industry counts for 9% and service counts for 55% of the economy.

Industrialization has **** itself very feebly in Bihar between 2002–07. Its average growth rate is 0.38%. The average growth rate of India is 7.8%. Bihar state has a smaller amount of GDP per capita but still there are pockets of superior per capita income.

The southern half of the state and Patna city has per capita income ** than that of Bangalore or Hyderabad cities.In the chief sector, the farming and animal husbandry documentated extensive reduction in its share of GSDP.

Within secondary sector, the sectors which depicted considerable alteration is Construction. Its split in GSDP augmented from 5.7% in 2002-05 to 12.8% in 2009-12.
