A 15-cm-long bronze tube with closed ends has a diameter of 75 mm and a wall thickness of 3 mm. With no internal pressure, the tube just fits between the two rigid end walls. Calculate the longitudinal and tangential stresses in the cylinder for an internal pressure of 2.5N/mm2 (Fig 5.13).

E = 100 kN/mm2 , v = 0.32.
