Two long bars appear to be absolutely identical externally. One of them is made from soft iron and the other is a steel magnet. How may one, by observing the interaction of the bars in various positions, determine which is the magnet?

The bars should be placed in the position shown in Fig. If bar A is made from soft-iron, then it will not be attracted to bar B.
