Context:Lucy is a lovely creation of the poet’* imagination. She is the child of nature, sweet innocent and heavenly.

Explanation : In this opening stanza we note that Lucy is an imaginary child of Wordsworth. Nature also is affected by her charm and merits. So she herself takes the responsibility of bringing her up. For three years Lucy lived in the open atmosphere of nature. Then nature regarded her as the most beautiful girl ever born on this earth. So she decided to look after her herself and to make her a lady according to her own plan.
