1. Feelings during first visit: On his first visit Prince Siddhartha saw an old man. He was very weak. He could hardly walk. His condition was very pitiable. Channa told him, “Age makes everybody weak. A man who lives long must grow weak.” The Prince was very sad. He remained thinking throughout the night. He wanted to know how love might save its ***** from the time that makes man old.
2. Feelings during second visit: On his second visit he saw a man who was suffering from a fatal **. He had lost all his energy. Channa said to him, “*** come to a man secretly and suddenly.” The Prince wanted to know the final end of man.
3. Feelings on seeing the ** body: In the mean time he saw a ** body. He saw it burning on a pyre. The eyes of the Prince were full of tears. He saw from the sky towards the earth and again towards the sky. He said, “Pleasures are false and miseries of life are true because all pleasures end into misery. ***** is certain to all and it is the end of life.” He thought that he was also cheated. So he ordered Channa to return to the palace.
