Water is an important element of balanced diet. It makes up to almost 70% of our body weight. Life process cannot occur without water. Functions:

(i) In the digestive system, water helps to break down complex food metabolism.

(ii) Water transports foods, wastes and gases through the body.

(iii) It keeps body cool though transpiration.
