As given, the lengths of the sides of an isosceles triangle are 9+x2,9+x2 and 18 -2x2units. Using Heron'* formula, we get

A = 6x (9 - x2)
A = 6 (9x - x3) ......(i)

Differentiating (i) w.r.t. x
