In honeybees, female workers and queens have 32, 16 are contributed by the queen' eggs and 16 come from the drones ****. Since drones’ hatch from unfertilized eggs, they only have the 16 chromosomes that were in the egg. Drones are haploid because they only have one set of chromosomes.
