Best answer

(i) When calcium formate is heated strongly it gives formaldehyde.

Ca(HCOO)2 + CaCO3 = HCHO

Formaldehyde is a colourless, strong smelling gas used in making building products and many household products.

(ii) It will produce a solution of ammonia in methanol. There would presuambly be a tiny amount of tiny amount of ammonium methoxide formed, but since ammonia is weak base and methanol is less acidic than water, there is for all practical situation no reaction.
