Difference between flux and slag-
Flux is a substance (acidic or basic) which combines with gangue (basic or acidic respectively) still left in the roasted or calcinated ore to form fusible slag.
Flux + Gangue → Slag
Gangue combines with flux to form slag
Gangue + Flux → Slog
