Chromosomal theery of heredity:-

Sultom and Boveri postulated the chromosomal theory of inheritance indipendently in 1902.

The theorystate that:-

(i) Mendelian genes are located on chromosome. Every chromosome and chromosome pair has a definite role in the development of an individuals andretain their number.

(ii) Both chromosomes and genes occur in pairs in the somatic cells and a gamete containb salf cone of the twoall eles) the number of chromosomes

(iii) During meiotic cell divisin chromosome regre and assort during fertilization

It can be expalained with the help out the given figure.

Both parents contributed equal number of chromosomes. Sulton knew that eggs and spermsare not alike in structure and function ut found likness in size or in structure. It provided the evidence that chromosomes bear the particles that determine hereditary characteristics. moreover, chromosome pairs maintain their indenty with each division of a somatic; or body Cell of an organism. In these divisin, regregation does not ocure. All. chromosomes split lengthwise. Thus proisding each doughter cell with identical genetic material.
