A sine wave has an amplitude A and a wavelength λ. If c is the wave velocity and v is the maximum velocity of the particle in the medium, then:

(A) c = v if λ = A/π

(B) c = v if A = λ/2

Correct Answer is: (B) c = v if A = λ/2

Maximum particle velocity=Aω = v

wave velocity = ω/2π λ = V

if v = V

Then Aω = ω/2π λ ⇒ A λ/2π
