The relation f is defined by f(x) = {(x2, 0 ≤ x ≤ 3),(3x, 3 ≤ x ≤ 10) The relation g is defined by g(x) = {(x2, 0 ≤ x ≤ 2), (3x, 2 ≤ x ≤ 10) Show that/is a function and g is not a function.

Since f(x) is unique for 0 ≤ x ≤ 10.

f(x) is a function. g(2) = 22 =4 and g(2) = 3(2) = 6

∴ z has two images under g.

∴ g is not a function.
