Mongooses belong to a group of carnivorous mammals that also include civets, genets, the fossae and binturong (or bear-cat). Mongooses live in southern Europe, southern Asia and much of **. The banded and dwarf mongooses live in family groups, and are very sociable. Each one of them has a special duty and enables the group to work together harmoniously. Female mongooses remain close to their nest and look after the young, while males go hunting for food. These mongooses live in burrows, which they dig themselves or take over from other animals such as termites.
