Human Development Index has three dimensions. The countries of the world are ranked based on their performance in the areas of health, education and access to resources. In order to measure the performance in health, life expectancy is taken into account whereas to measure the performance in education, rate of literacy is considered. The standard of living is appraised while measuring the performance in respect of access to resources. It is measured in terms of purchasing power in US dollars.
