As reported in 2011, there were 833 million people in rural areas and 377 million people in urban areas. As per the study, it is evident that the percentage of increase in population in the urban areas in 60 years Is higher than that in the rural areas proving that Indians prefer to live in urban areas owing to more job opportunities, higher standards of living, better facilities, etc.
