Karnataka has dense forests. In order to protect forests and wild life, the Government of Karnataka established a number of wild life sanctuaries, national parks, tiger projects and biosphere reserves area. There are eighteen wildlife sanctuaries in Karnataka. The important wildlife sanctuaries are Muthodi, Bandipur, Nagarahole, Dandeli and Bhadra.
