Best answer

2x + 3y = 18 …(1)

x – 2y = 2 …(2)

a1 = 2, b1 = 3, c1 = 18

a2 = 1, b2 = – 2, c2 = 2

This system has a unique solution.

Solve the equations:

From (2), x = 2 + 2y

Substituting the value of x in (1),

2(2 + 2y) + 3y = 18

=> 4 + 4y + 3y = 18

=> 7y = 18 – 4 = 14

=> y = 2

and x = 2 + 2 x 2

= 2 + 4

= 6

Answer: x = 6 and y = 2
